Hi guys,
Is there a way to generate/send Midi timecode out in a similar manner to disguise where you can add a MTC layer to the timeline and specify timecode for it to generate?
Thanks,
H

Hi Harry,
Thanks for posting on our Answerhub!
I have created a quick “Send MTC” layer template for you, which you can add to C:\ProgramData\Lightact\LightAct4\templates\user.
Unfortunately, Answehub forum will not let me attach this layer template type of file here, so I would be happy to send it over to you via email if you could share it with me.
Otherwise, you can also reconstruct the layer template I created on your own by starting with a Blank layer and using the “Get data from Timeline” and “Send MTC” nodes. Please refer to the screenshot below:
I hope this helps.
Best,
Sara
Hi Sara,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I can get this working but it appears that the MTC jumping or drifting as I am getting sporadic erros on the mif4 I am connected to via USB.
I can send MTC to the mif4 from it’s control software and it runs without errors.
Is there a way I can set a time for the timecode to start rather than using the timeline time? I have found the generate value timecode node but cant work out how to get it to run timecode to the MTC node
Thanks,
H
Hi Harry,
My deepest apologies for the late reply, I just saw your message.
Thank you for explaining the issue with MIF4. We’re actually aware of it and have already reported it, so it should be fixed in version 4.11.
In the meantime, if you’re only testing, feel free to use software Timecode senders like Timecode sender, as LightAct 4.10 should have no problem receiving TC from tools like that.
Could you share a bit more about your use case? What are you trying to achieve? Just in case you haven’t seen it: at the bottom of the Timeline Properties, under the Syncing section, there’s a part called Section TC marks. There, you can set the TC Type of a Section to Custom and define when you want it to sync to the incoming Timecode.
Once again, thank you very much for your patience!
Best,
Sara
